is currently the Commander of Community
Outreach and Crime Prevention Programs in the Baltimore City Police Department. He also supervises the Crime Resistance Unit and coordinates the Community Liaison Programs. These programs addresses on-going crime problems within trauma communities and mediates disputes between citizens and police.
Major Hite is a 27-year veteran who was assigned to Criminal Investigations and Executive Protection for both the Mayor of Baltimore City and the Governor of the State of Maryland. He is Police Coordinator for the CD-CP Program (which is the Baltimore Child Development/Community Policing Program). As a member of the Crisis Response Team, he facilitates the collaboration between Johns Hopkins Mental Health clinicians and the Baltimore City Police Department.
Major Hite is also a Crisis Responder for N.O.V.A. (National Organization of Victim Assistance), as well as a trainer and facilitator for the National Center for Children and Communities Exposed to Violence.
These affiliations have successfully intervened in the lives of over one thousand children and those communities that have been impacted by violent crime. In addition, over two thousand clinicians and police officer “fellows” have been trained in the area of juvenile’s violence intervention as a result of Major Hite’s work and commitment.
