![]() Dear Brothers: Imagine a place where African American males define themselves and speak for themselves; a place where the true essence of Black manhood is highlighted and promoted three hundren and sixty-five days a year; and a place where Black men make every attempt to uplift themselves, their families and their communities. For your information, that special place is www.agoodblackman.com, which was created and launched in February 1998. In May of 2001, the non profit 501(c)3 organization A Good Black Man, Inc. (AGBM) was formed. With the help of a few committed and talented friends, AGBM was created to develop an expansive collaboration of resources and information specific to uplifting, educating, honoring and empowering Black males. Our mission is also to provide a global forum to dispel the myth that "there are no good Black men" by creating a safe haven void of unkind criticism, persecution and degradation typically found in the media and society-at-large. We've managed to achieve quite a bit, but this is only the beginning. The web site and the organization cannot exist in a vacuum if they are to be a success. That's why I'm reaching out to you and to people like you. We have several strategies in place to achieve our goals. One of which is to offer membership opportunities. The possibilities for www.agoodblackman.com and its organization are endless, but neither will succeed if we're the only ones contributing to its success. We're inviting our friends and supporters to join us. We hope that you will take a look at the sponsorship options available,
We promise that if you take the time to help get the ball rolling, then we'll take that ball and run with it. Thank you in advance for your help. I look forward to hearing from you soon. Best Regards, D. Anne Browne, President /dab |
