Keeping A Watchful Eye: David Miller, M.Ed.: Educational Consultant
David Miller earned a Bachelors Degree in Political Science from the University of Baltimore and a Masters Degree in Education with a specialization in Conflict Resolution and Mediation from Goucher College in Baltimore, Maryland. He is a current recipient of the George Soros Open Society Community Fellowship Award.
Miller's workshop: Urban Adolescent Violence: Practical Approaches to Reduce the Onset of Violent Behavior Among Youth is a half day workshop designed to help agencies and professionals gain a greater understanding of the most salient aspects of community violence which involve adolescents.
Workshop Goals
- To provide organizations with effective strategies to reduce the frequency that youth are involved in violent behavior.
- To increase professional’s awareness of the impact that violence has on communities.
- To improve agencies ability to provide quality prevention services in the area of youth violence.
- To examine risk factors which contribute to juvenile violence.
Miller will be designing a comprehensive "Violence Prevention System" to be used in urban schools. The project will feature a 30 minute video documentary exploring urban violence through the eyes of families who have lost children as a result of community violence.
Additionally, Miller is a freelance educational consultant specializing in curriculum development and implementation of programs for African-American males.
