AGBM Mission Statement
Agoodblackman.com was born out of the belief that the purpose of our
history is to enhance our present and secure our futures. We believe that our history
exists for us and that the common history all African Americans share should be the
basis for our solidarity, not an excuse for our disintegration as a race.
It is our mission to remind you of that.
Agoodblackman.com believes in the countless numbers of Black men out there
who have devoted their lives to building strong communities, families and
relationships. We want to help those Black men (and women) who have positive
messages to convey. We want as many of them as possible to know that we're
listening and that we'll devote our best interests to helping them get their
positive messages out.
This web site is all about exploring, honoring, uplifting and celebrating
the Black man. It will not exist in a vacuum and cannot exist without input and
feedback from the Black community.
This web site is about and for Black men. However, we welcome feedback from women
providing that the feedback is in support of Black men.
Our mission is to restore Black men to their original positions of
greatness. To achieve this, we will not post or publish any material about Black men
that is not positive in nature. Given the current atmosphere of the mainstream
media, this will often mean that our website will not provide "news" about Black men
that has been generated by the mainstream media.
This is not to say that agoodblackman.com will not
take a critical look at Black men. We will criticize Black men as our
observations of them warrant. However, whatever criticisms we offer for
consideration will always be constructive in nature and empowering in its
attempt.
Above all, it is the mission of agoodblackman.com to help ensure the
survival of Black men. To that end, we take great care in how we express our
interpretation of Black manhood. Specifically, we do not define a man by
where he chooses to place his religious faith. Therefore, we will not
express a preference for or censor the expression of an individual's
religious beliefs unless those beliefs diminish family values
and/or contribute to the erosion of the Black family.
In addition, we will not intentionally promote, advertise or market any
products, concepts or ideas in our site's content, bulletin board or banner
ads in support of unhealthy lifestyle choices. That includes but is not
limited to, the use of tobacco products, the abuse or alcohol or other
(legal or illegal) drugs, participation in "recreational" sex or unsafe sexual
activities, and gambling.
While respecting the inalienable right of all men to choose,
agoodblackman.com does not support, condone or endorse
homosexuality or the gay lifestyle. We do not take this position out of
any sense of personal condemnation of an individual's preferences.
Rather, it is because of the obvious contradiction that homosexuality poses
to the survival of the Black family. The Black family
cannot survive unless we procreate & collectively encourage positive unions between
Black men and women.
We have the power to shape our destinies. Our mission is to provide the
tools and resources to encourage positive change for Black men to the best of our
abilities.
