Black Male of the Month: Thomas E. Thompson
After spending 33 years in prison and on the streets involved in
drugs
and alcohol, Tom has turned his life around.
He entered college at the age of 53, and earned his degree in Human Services. He was on the Dean's List his entire college career. After college, he decided to work in the "AIDS
Research" circle.
Now, with the knowledge he received from that position and his own
knowledge from the streets, he has been working with men and boys to better
their lives. He has started a men's group at one of his work sites (he has
2)
and a boys group. He is actively involved with his community, church and
family.
We are all so proud of him. He became a "Stephen Minister" recently, (a
church
sponsored program) and works with his knowledge on AODA issues. He has
truly
become a "GOOD BLACK MAN!!!"
