My Good Black Man
(by Mrs. Kennenth Ancrum)
I just had to write to you. I have been in chat rooms, web sites, and
many other forums on the net and I'm sorry to say this is the only site
where the Black man is honored. I created a club just recently, because
I thought there was no place on the net to honor our brothers. Its
called "The Black Man Riseth Again". It's where I tell stories of my
life and my experiences with Black men.
My husband and I met in college. We dated 5 years before we got married
and we've been married for 15 years. He has given me hope that my son
will be among the "good Black man society". My husband is not very
smart, he's not very ambitious, or business minded. But he is the head
of our house. He is big, strong, and yet nurturing. I came from a
small town in the south and he is from New York City. He has shown me
that life is not handed to you, but is there for you to do with what is
good. He is an honest man, a devout husband and exceptional father. It
has just dawned on me that he wants the same things I want in this
relationship. Its not been a piece of cake, but our battle scars are a
symbol of our perseverance. The long term goal of keeping our family
together no matter what.
There is so much more I can say about him, but I wont. I just had to
comment when I found your site.
I, as a Black woman, find it depressing to here day in and day out ,
"where are all the good Black men". I want every women to have what I
have and be proud of it.
Why I am Honoring My Husband,
Donald G. Lockett
(by Mrs. Erma "Weezie" Lockett)
I was delighted and pleased to honor a man who has been an inspiration in my life. A man who has been by my side for 13 years. A man who has been a dream come true. A man who has gained the respect of his community, his church, and his family. A father of four beautiful children and a grandfather of twelve wonderful children.
Donald loves the Lord and
puts Him first in everything he does. He is very active in
the community and the church. As a member of the Gospel Tabernacle
Baptist Church, he worked for the Lord in two ministries:
audio/visual and security. Besides helping out at the church.
Donald is also a professional truck driver and an entrepreneur.
His truck driving job requires him to work anywhere between
10 to 12 hours a day as well as working in and operating a
beauty/barber shop. He is a bundle of kinetic energy.
Donald is a kind, hard
working and honest man. There is never a day that goes by
when he doesn't open his arms to help his fellow man. He is
a great asset to the community. He strives hard for perfection
and has a "never-say-never" attitude. During the busy holidays,
Donald takes time to adopt and sponsor needy families. He
collects, contributes and delivers food, clothing and money
to these families. he is readily available to help anyone
at any time. Donald is full of wit, humor, and love. As an
African American entrepreneur, he opens the door for all young
and old barbers and beauticians. Donald helps you succeed
whether you're a custodian cleaning floors, a young barber
with little experience or a master apprentice with years of
experience. He encourages his workers. He motivates his employees.
He develops a good working relationship with clients as well
as with the other businesses in the Randallstown area.
He's my friend, lover,
soul mate and the man God sent to me. That's why I am honoring
this "one-of-a-kind", modest, humble, "never-say-never" husband
of 13 long and loving years.
