Shawn Wooden
Miami
Shawn Wooden received the Miami Dolphin's 1997 Community Service Award, which recognizes a player for his involvement in the South Florida community. In just two seasons with the Dolphins, Wooden, a sixth-round draft choice in 1996, has put together an impressive dossier of community service work in South Florida which includes working with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Boys & Girls Clubs, Daily Bread Food Bank, United Way and Habitat for Humanity. In addition, Wooden, who was the Dolphins' starting strong safety (now on IR), has been a frequent visitor to area hospitals and schools.
In 1997 he was a driving force behind the "No Pass Zone" program in which each member of the team's defensive backfield donated tickets to the Boys & Girls Club for every home game. Wooden has been very giving of his time in his two NFL seasons and has been a tremendous all-around representative of the Miami Dolphins in the community. www.dolphinsendzone.com.
